Violations of Lorentz Covariance in Light Front Quark Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
Electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon from relativistic quark models are analyzed: results from null-plane projection of the Feynman triangle diagram are compared with a Bakamjian-Thomas model. The magnetic form factors of the models differ by about 15% at spacelike momentum transfer 0.5 GeV, while the charge form factors are much closer. Spurious contributions to electromagnetic form factors due to violations of rotational symmetry are eliminated for both models. One method changes magnetic form factors by about 10%, whereas the charge form factors stay nearly the same. Another one changes the charge form factor of the Bakamjian-Thomas model by more than 50%. A Constituent Picture of Hadrons from Light-Front QCD
It may be possible to derive a constituent approximation for bound states in QCD using hamiltonian light-front field theory. Cutoffs that violate explicit gauge invariance and Lorentz covariance must be employed. A similarity renormalization group and coupling coherence are used to compute the effective hamiltonian as an expansion in powers of the canonical QCD running coupling constant. At sec...
متن کاملRotational covariance and light-front current matrix elements.
Light-front current matrix elements for elastic scattering from hadrons with spin 1 or greater must satisfy a nontrivial constraint associated with the requirement of rotational covariance for the current operator. Using a model ρ meson as a prototype for hadronic quark models, this constraint and its implications are studied at both low and high momentum transfers. In the kinematic region appr...
متن کاملLight-Front Dynamics and Generalized Parton Distributions
High energy reactions necessarily involve large momentum transfer to the target’s constituents, which thus rebound near light speed. The experimentally observed correlation between initial and final states measures the system’s response along the light cone. A convenient theoretical description of such reactions is light-front dynamics where the properties of physical states are described along...

Orthonormal spin-flavor wave functions of Lorentz covariant quark models of the Bakamjian-Thomas type are constructed for nucleon resonances. Three different bases are presented. The manifestly Lorentz covariant Dirac-Melosh basis is related to the Pauli-Melosh basis and the symmetrized Bargmann-Wigner basis that are manifestly orthogonal.
متن کاملNucleon generalized polarizabilities within a relativistic Constituent Quark Model
Nucleon generalized polarizabilities are investigated within a relativistic framework, defining such quantities through a Lorentz covariant multipole expansion of the amplitude for virtual Compton scattering. The key physical ingredients in the calculation of the nucleon polarizabilities are the Lorentz invariant reduced matrix elements of the electromagnetic transition current, which can be ev...
